Welcome to Homeport USS Turner

This "Homeport" is dedicated to the men who gallantly sailed on the U.S.S. Turner, DD/DDR-834, and on her predecessors, DD-259 and DD-648.

It is also dedicated to our families who waited for us to return to "Homeport".

"Small boys", Admiral Sprague called them. But those little gray ships did a man-size job. They, and scores like them.

They were the destroyers and the destroyer-escorts of the United States Navy. Some called them "cans". They meant the word for a noun. But the destroyers changed it to a verb. "Can" meaning "Wilco" and "able to do".
And they did!
